The Rhythm Section  •  By  •  0 Comments

Hey Blake fans! About a month ago we posted that Blake would be starring in a spy thriller from Bond producers. The movie, titled The Rhythm Section, is an adaptation of the first book in Mark Burnell’s four novel series and previously reports had mention that the movie would be produced by IM Global. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be produced by Paramount however IM Global will have a role in financing. You can read the full report bellow!

Paramount is getting into the female spy business.

The studio has picked up The Rhythm Section, a spy thriller package that has Blake Lively attached to star and Reed Morano, who directed three episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale, attached to helm.

Producing are Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, who know a thing or two about the spy-film world as they produced the last eight James Bond movies. IM Global is financing.

According to the studio, Rhythm Section is a contemporary adaptation of the first of British thriller writer Mark Burnell’s Stephanie Patrick series of four novels:

Patrick (Lively) is on a path of self-destruction after the death of her family in an airplane crash, a flight that she was meant to be on. After discovering that the crash was not an accident, her anger awakens a new sense of purpose and she rises to uncover the truth by adopting the identity of an assassin to track down those responsible. The new, and lethal, Stephanie Patrick is on a mission to fill the void between what she knows and what she is told.

Other novels in Burnell’s popular series include Gemini, The Third Woman and Chameleon.

The studio is hoping the collaboration is successful enough to launch a global franchise.

Morano is a cinematographer-turned-helmer with credits including Frozen River and HBO’s Vinyl who made her directorial debut with 2015’s Meadowland, an indie drama that starred Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson.

Lively last starred in the shark thriller The Shallows and the Marc Forster drama All I See Is You.

With All I See In You having its theatrical release in September, it was only a matter of time until Blake began promoting the movie and graced us with beautiful photoshoots. She graces the cover of the September issue of Glamour US and Glamour UK (!!) and as you guys can check out bellow, the photoshoot is absolutely beautiful. The publication also released an interview, where Blake talks about the movie, sexism in Hollywood, raising fearless daughters, marriage and much more!

GLAMOUR — Blake Lively is midsentence in the dining room of a chic Vancouver hotel when her hand darts inside her shirt. “Why is my bra so lumpy?” she asks, rummaging around. “Ah, there’s a big fold. I’m going to unfold it.” She grins at me. “I’m gonna look like I’m feeling myself up.”

Turns out the lumpy bra is for a good cause: Lively breastfed her baby girl, Inez, before arriving today. Sitting in her frayed blue jeans and noshing on ceviche, she looks exactly like the laid-back L.A. golden girl we first came to love in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Gossip Girl. But the decade that has passed has been transformative for the actress, who turns 30 in August. She married her Green Lantern costar Ryan Reynolds, with whom she now has two daughters—Inez, who will turn one in September, and James, two. Professionally, she graduated into more complex roles: a drug-addled single mom in Ben Affleck’s The Town, a 1930s divorcée in Woody Allen’s Café Society, and a blind woman who sees her marriage differently once she regains her sight in All I See Is You, out September 15. Now she’s making her next big career move: producing The Husband’s Secret, an upcoming movie based on a book by Liane Moriarty, the author of Big Little Lies. Lively will also star in the film, but as executive producer she’ll have more creative control, a bigger financial stake, and the ability to plan her schedule around her family. It’s a savvy move, and one that could earn her a new kind of cred in an industry where women are learning the power of telling their own stories.

Lively sounds a decade wiser too. She talks about sexist stage direction in scripts and how the election “awakened” her; she’s deeply educated on issues of child exploitation like sex trafficking and child pornography. Lively might still have Serena van der Woodsen’s glorious hair, but she’s developed the kind of thoughtful feminist attitude that comes only with experience. Bra in check, we discussed it all.

GLAMOUR: How long are you in Vancouver?

BLAKE LIVELY: My husband’s shooting Deadpool, and I’m here for the full shoot. We don’t work at the same time. We’re here as a family, then we’ll pack up, and I’ll go do a couple movies.

THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER — Blake Lively is set to star in an espionage thriller from James Bond producers EON Productions and IM Global.

The Rhythm Section, an adaptation of the first book in Mark Burnell’s four novel series, will be produced by IM Global and Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, which is responsible for the last eight Bond films.

The Rhythm Section follows heroine Stephanie Patrick who, after the death of her family in an airplane crash on a flight that she was meant to be on, discovers the crash was not an accident. She then seeks to uncover the truth by adapting the identity of an assassin to track down those responsible.

Production will begin later this year, with The Handmaid’s Tale filmmaker Reed Morano set to direct. Burnell will executive produce along with IM Global’s Greg Shapiro (The Hurt LockerZero Dark Thirty).

“It is exciting for us to be working with the immensely talented team of director Reed Morano and actress Blake Lively, who have a strong vision for this very compelling story driven by a female protagonist,” Wilson and Broccoli said in a statement.

Added IM Global founder Stuart Ford: “In Stephanie Patrick, Mark has created a unique female heroine who turns so many of the current cinematic clichés surrounding so-called “kick-ass” female leads on their head. To be bringing such a fresh, realistic and bold international thriller to the big screen with EON Productions, Reed and Blake is an exciting proposition for us all at IM Global.”

Lively is set to star in CBS Films’ adaptation of The Husband’s Secret, the New York Times best-seller from Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty. The actress was last seen battling sharks in The Shallows and 1940s movie starlets in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society.

In addition to Hulu’s Margaret Atwood adaptation, Morano is one of the filmmaker’s behind Beyonce’s visual album, Lemonade. She has several projects in various sates of development including sci-fi drama I Think We’re Alone Now, starring Elle Fanning.

Lively is repped by WME, Management 360 and Jackoway Tyerman. Morano is repped by WME.

Blake reunited with her The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants co-stars last night to support the New York premiere of Amber Tamblyn’s directional debut Paint It Black! During the red carpet, PEOPLE asked Amber Tamblyn how the foursome managed to keep their friendship going after all these years to which she joked it was a bit of a mystery before speaking about Blake helping her out when it comes to fashion: “It’s so funny because some of us having nothing in common. Even just Blake and I, her understanding of fashion is beyond me and I’m constantly texting her pictures like, ‘Should I wear this?’ Even tonight, she explained to me how to steam this shirt over text. This shirt was all wrinkled and I was like, ‘I’m screwed! I don’t know what I’m going to do with this shirt.’ And she was like, ‘Put it in the bathroom for 20 minutes and turn the shower on. Are you good with your jewelry? What shoes are you going to wear?’” Friendship goals, am i right?
